Kindergarten Loves Silly Sludge!

This week we are using up our almost empty glue bottles to make silly sludge!

The link for the recipe can be found here.  It starts out watery, but the more the kids work it, the
better it gets!

Miss Hoffman's class saw the silly sludge and even convinced me to make it with their class!

Only 9 more days of school!  What are you looking forward to the most this summer?

Pop Art and Wet Ones!

A few weeks ago, we received 3 cases of Wet Ones wipes from Teacherlists.com for FREE!  Third Graders used them as inspiration for our Pop Art unit and learned about Andy Warhol.  Did you know he had 25 cats all named Sam?

Check out the Animoto video I created about this project below!

We also experimented with collage from the scrap box today!

What can you do with scraps of paper?

It's close to the end of the school year and my scrap paper boxes were over-flowing!  Since I am making the transition to TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) next fall, I thought we would do some experimenting with collage!  The second graders LOVED it!

This guy is throwing a giant spit-ball!

It's the Mona "Leasa!"  Looks just like her!
For the last five minutes of class, we had a discussion about our creations and discoveries!  This will be a regular part of TAB teaching next year!

The "Butter" Brothers!

We ATE our artwork today!

Be sure to ask your kindergartners what they did in art this week!  Their answer may surprise you!

We also watched the youtube video of The Color Wheel.

Using vanilla wafers and colored frosting, we created the color wheel!  We were only given primary colors and had to mix to make secondary colors!

Yummy!

Project Tornado Visits PES!

A HUGE thank you to Eric Sorensen for coming to Pecatonica Elementary this afternoon!  Our third and fourth grade students learned about how a tornado is formed, and what to do if a tornado is spotted in our area!

Be sure to watch the 5pm and 6pm news on WREX-13 tonight and tomorrow morning!  Don't forget to do you homework Eric assigned!  One of you just might win an iPad and get to be on TV with Eric for the weather forecast!

Did you know Eric and I have been friends for a couple years now?

We haven't changed a bit, have we?!
