Getting creative with masks!

Our fourth grade friends had a great time painting and adding embelishments to their masks today!  This is such a simple project!  We use a plastic face mold, cover it with saran wrap and use gauze/plaster strips dipped in water (just like if we broke a limb!).  Maybe in high school we will do our actual faces? 

PES Art Show 2013

A huge thank you to all our families that came out to the art show last Tuesday night after the Talent Show.  Families painted a huge underwater mural, wrote why art is important to them and the children had a wonderful time showing off their fabulous art creations!  I cannot thank Mrs. Vande Voorde and Mrs. Hastings for all their help setting up and tearing down the show!  We have the BEST families at PES!

We also have five pieces of student artwork on display at the Rockford Art Mueseum for their 72nd Young Artist Show!  Congratulations to Wyatt Davidson, Avery Miles, Adriana Smith, Faith Melhausen and Wyatt Tworek!  I had the pleasure of attending the opening ceremony on April 14th.  Artwork will be on display at the museum through May 12th.  Students will receive their artwork back on May 17th.

It's official! The art room has a blog!

I'm very excited to be entering the blogging world in the art room!  Make sure to sign up your email to receive updates!  Yesterday was an exciting day for the high school Art 3 & 4 students and Mrs. Wanke's class.  As you might remember, Mrs. Wanke's class designed and wrote about their original monsters.  Click here to see the video I made for the high school students!  The high school students then sculpted the monsters out of clay.  Click here to see the video Miss Rivas created!  Be sure to come check out the monsters on Tuesday at the Elementary Art Show after the Talent Show!  We will be having an art show scavenger hunt that evening as well.  Students that complete the scavenger hunt will earn a "free choice" art class ticket!
