3rd Grade Concert Decorations

Our 3rd graders worked hard on their decorations for their upcoming concert this week!

Some classes are also getting a head start on some pieces for the art show on December 7th.  I have hired Artome again this year to frame each child's artwork!  For $25, families may purchase their child's artwork framed are ready to hang at home.  Proceeds come back to the Dragonfly Studio to purchase more art supplies.  Any work not purchased will be returned to students.

Also in case you haven't had a chance, you can come see me as Marjorie Margarine in Offed at the Bake-Off one last weekend (Sunday is sold out).  This is my first time acting on stage and has been a wonderful experience!

Mixing paints and Star Spangled Banner

My new kindergarten students had a great time mixing yellow and magenta paint to make orange pumpkins!

On Monday at 12, we paused class so we could listen to Ms. Durand sing the Star Spangled Banner over the intercom.

Welcome new and returning Pecatonica Elementary families!

Miss Hoffman and I got together for the first day of school and created "Total Eclipse of the Art" with her class!  Oh what fun to use Chalk pastels!  They turned out great!

We are beginning the school year with a message of peace by making our pinwheels for peace.  On the International Day of Peace, September 21st, PES students will "plant" their pinwheels in the front lawn of the school as a collaborative school wide display!  The 2017-18 school year is off to a great start!

As we wrap up the year...

It's been a wonderful school year teaching your children!   Some of your kindergarteners might have come home claiming to have eaten their last art projects and they DID!  We made color wheels with cookies, but were only given the three primary colors- red, yellow and blue.  The children mixed those colors to make secondary colors- orange, green and violet.  Then we are them!  Yum!

Students in grades 1-4 enjoyed the "Inventors Studio" and creating with recyclable materials.

Our 4th graders brought home their glass fusing pieces!  So beautiful!  It's like Christmas morning when I open the glass kiln!

Some of our third graders finished their "Ugly Dolls" in time and some are taking them home to finish.  They are adorable!

A brand new unit I introduced this year to our 4th graders is needle felting.  I think they liked it!  They made donuts out of a sock!

I hope everyone has a wonderful summer and I look forward to seeing everyone and meeting our newest kindergarten friends again in August!
